These simple stove top cinnamon apples are quick & easy and taste just like apple pie filling without added sugar. Eat them as a sweet treat on their own, or as a topping on ice cream, oatmeal, or my favorite breakfast power bowls. Seriously, try these as a great breakfast alternative. You’ll find yourself adding these to your repertoire of easy morning breakfast go-tos. The best part about these are that they are taste delicious and are top 8 allergen free (depending on butter/ oil selection) and ready in under 15 minutes. I love eating these as a breakfast but also prefer them as part of a dessert. A great pairing with French vanilla ice cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Yield: 2 cups, depending on size of the apples

Prep time: 2 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Cinnamon Apples Ingredients

  • 2 apples (I prefer Honey Crisp)
  • 1-1/2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp butter, butter alternative or coconut oil
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt

Recipe Instructions

  1. Core apples and slice into 1/2 inch cubes
  2. Add apples to saute pan with water over medium heat. Cover and cook until water is evaporated and apples are beginning to tender, about 5 minutes
  3. Add the butter/ oil of choice to the pan, stirring to combine and cover. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring periodically, until apples are tender
  4. Add the syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and salt and stir to combine.
  5. Enjoy on their own as a treat, or serve stove top cinnamon apples over oatmeal, ice cream or in breakfast power bowls
